Black Lives Matter, Every Life Matters!

This topic should not be surprising to you. Today I would like to talk about why black lives matter. But everyone's life matters. No one should be discriminated against because of their race. No matter what someone has done, their life should not be ended. Racism is the belief that human traits and capacities are primarily determined by biological race and that some races are superior to others. My whole life, I never cared about color. It didn't matter to me. I have friends of all races. It hurts me to know how long this has been going on. Let me give you a background on racism. The idea of “race” began to evolve in the late 17th century, after the beginning of European exploration and colonization, as a folk ideology about human differences associated with the different populations. I love to read, and in many books, I have seen racism. Back in the days, "black" people were not allowed to drink, or sit at the same places as the "white" people. Many people throughout history have tried to change this. One of these historical figures includes Martin Luther King, Jr., a well-known civil rights activist who had a great deal of influence on American society in the 1950s and 1960s. His strong belief in nonviolent protest helped set the tone of the BLM movement. Companies like PayPal, Airbnb, Apple, and Amazon (to name a few) are donating to the Black Lives Matter foundation and are also adding their voices against racism.

During tough times like this, we need to come together and provide help, where and when it is needed. As Helen Keller once said, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
