The 80’s. Forty years ago there was a time when things were very different. Not only clothing wise but the way we used to live was different too. Our movies were becoming more and more advanced, our clothes were different, and lastly our lifestyle was different.
When I imagine the 80’s, I don’t just think about the crazy phase of sweat bands and acid washed clothing; I think about movies. Yes you heard me right, movies. As we watch t.v now, I personally am blown away by the amazing CGI technology, as well as the makeup and everything that makes the movie. But think about 40 years before all of the cool stuff you see now. I like to think that the 80’s was the best era for movies. The costumes and techniques to make the character come alive was becoming more and more advanced and real. Let’s just say that the 80’s held the key to opening the door of wonders and possibilities for the rest of the world of Hollywood.
Now let’s talk about the world of clothing in the 80’s. Some of you imagine the bright neon colors that made it impossible for you to miss someone on the other side of the room. But let’s dig deeper. Clothing wasn’t really as different in the 80’s as it is now. Clothing is a form of art to us. We express ourselves through it. So back then, people expressed themselves through acid washed, or neon colors, and different hairstyles. I observed that we actually still have a lot of that in our clothing styles today. We may not notice it, but it’s true. So in some small way the 80’s is still in us.
And last but not least, we have the lifestyle of the 80’s. I am pretty sure that we all wonder what it was like to live in the 80’s. It certainly must have been different than it is now, but we can still find similarities between the 80’s lifestyle and our current one. Yes the trends and such were probably different, but keep in mind that it was around this time that things began to change. While we certainly aren’t living in the 80’s, that decade sure did affect many of lives in a good way.
To be honest, yes, the 80’s were 40 years ago. But, even though things did change, some things didn’t. The movies like I said, the clothing, and the lifestyle are all different and they made up of the 80’s. Thanks for tuning in.
