On September 19th, 2020 the troop held a calendar session where PLC members and patrol representatives planned out the calendar for March 2021- December 2021. During the meeting, the attendants picked what events their patrol wanted to lead and proposed ideas for future events. Fun events like escape rooms, MB workshops, campouts, backpacking trips, and hikes were planned so look forward to those! Most events were uploaded onto the TroopWebHost Calendar as well.
Everything being online is hard. School, homework, studying, extracurricular activities, not being able to see friends in person, and being with only your family for too long can get overwhelming. Because of this, the SPLC members are trying to make online meetings fun and engaging. They spend a lot of time planning these meetings, but not many scouts end up participating. After requesting participation many times and still not seeing it, the PLC created a requirements list for what is considered “active” for rank advancement. Here are the requisites:
Attend the majority of troop meetings and PLCs (greater than 50%)
Attend the majority of activities (attend a minimum of one activity per month)
Have to have a valid excuse if absent
Attend majority patrol meetings/ events (greater than 50%)
A form was sent out for scouts and their parents to sign to ensure that they agree with the terms. Be sure to try your best to be involved and partake in the troop meeting and events!
